Happy Birthday, Jason!

September 5th is Jason's birthday. He would have been 27 this year. Man, how time flies. It's been 22 years and I still feel like it was yesterday that we were fighting with each other.

Peace out, bro. I miss you.

These Eyes (bah bah baaaaaah)

In these pictures, it's hard to tell, but this is what I look like the morning after a "bad night". My eyes are puffy and there are broken blood vessels all over my eyes and nose. Ugh.

My downfall this time: lamb. I thought I'd be all culinary and buy some fresh herbs and concoct a yummy rosemary based marinade for the first time. The dish turned out a little too vinegary, but it wasn't terrible.

I stuck to my two ounces of meat and ate maybe three bites of mashed potato. I waited about 30 minutes, and took a drink of water - that's when I felt it. I awoke the monster within. At first, it was just an uneasy feeling. It was lower this time, like it had already moved out of my pouch. But then the burping started, and it didn't stop for over an hour.

Needless to say, it ended badly and I flushed away what was left in my pouch. Bye bye lamb, at least for a little while :(

My Dad.

My dad is a super guy. Just read about it here.

Of course, he's even more special to me. No, he won't adopt you. Even if he would, you'd have to get in line because I've already had many requests over my lifetime.

40 lbs!!

Yep. It's not two months yet, and I'm down 40. My husband asked, "is that good?" I suppose it is. I mean, I'm totally excited about it and I feel great. I'm trying not to compare myself with anyone else's weight loss, so let's say for me it's terrific!

Now, to eulogize my 40 lbs., let's take a look at some things to gain perspective.

One of my gastric bypass inspirations

I read this blog for recipes. The other day, she posted this and it made me smile :)

I still feel like if I can get down to a size 18, it will be a miracle. The road seems so long right now, but I know I'll get there.

Actually, I feel better and I'm happier than I've been in years. I often stop and think that nowadays. It's a great place to be.

I may still look the same on the outside, but on the inside, I feel like a completely new person.
